The future of dentistry, now. Our office utilizes CEREC by Sirona, a CAD/CAM optical scanner and ceramic milling system that allows us to create durable, beautiful permanent restorations in our office in one appointment. No impressions or wait times, just on-demand dentistry when you need it. We can also use CEREC technology to scan for Invisalign, night guards, and retainers, eliminating the need for traditional impression material, which makes for a tidier appointment, and lessens our environmental impact as an office.
CEREC crowns are a type of same-day crown, designed and manufactured using a completely digital workflow. CEREC was pioneered by Dentsply Sirona in the 1990s, and since then has become an incredibly powerful and accurate tool for dentists. While we still often use lab-fabricated crowns in our office as well, CEREC crowns can be made in-house in less than an hour, rather than the traditional multi-week waiting period for a dental lab.
Simply put, the exact same material as lab-fabricated crowns. Modern dental crowns are made out of a variety of materials, based on application. Some are ceramic, some are zirconia, and there are even hybrid materials that we can use to create the best possible restoration for each application.
Ceramic crowns have the advantage of being similar in strength and appearance to dental enamel, which allows us to create beautiful, durable smiles. To learn more about what you can expect from our crown work at Seaside Dental, check out our Before & Afters.
"Digital Dentistry" is an umbrella term used to describe everything from Digital Smile Design to virtual implant treatment planning. We utilize a number of digital workflows to improve our efficiency as an office and to continue to provide Seaside Dental patients the very best that dentistry has to offer.
